Transferring your accounts to your new Ledger device is simple and secure. Here’s what you need to do:

1. Locate your 24-word recovery phrase: Make sure you have the 24-word recovery phrase from your Ledger Nano S™ . This is essential for restoring your accounts.

2. Set up your new Ledger device: Follow the on-screen instructions to get your new Ledger Nano X™, Ledger Nano S Plus™, Ledger Flex™ or Ledger Stax™ up and running.

3. Restore from recovery phrase: During the setup, choose the option to restore from an existing recovery phrase. Then, enter the 24-word recovery phrase you used with your Ledger Nano S.

4. Install apps: Open the Ledger Live™ app to install the necessary apps. Your balances and transaction history will sync automatically.

The newer devices support advanced features like Clear Signing and Ledger Sync, which your Ledger Nano S does not. Plus, the Ledger Nano S has limited memory for installing multiple apps and can't support some of the latest features.

We chose to focus on the Ledger Nano S for this upgrade promotion because it’s one of our oldest devices still in use. We want to reward our loyal users who have been with us since the early days. While the Ledger Nano S is still reliable and secure, it does have some limitations due to its older hardware.

Released in 2016, the Ledger Nano S has been a trusted device for many years. However, it has limited memory, which restricts the number of apps you can install at once. It also can’t support some of the newer features available on our modern devices, like Clear Signing and Ledger Sync.

In 2022, we announced that the Ledger Nano S would be retired due to these limitations. You can read more about this in our announcement here. By upgrading to a newer Ledger device, you can take full advantage of advanced features and enjoy a more seamless and secure experience.
